The Artis Domus villa was built in 1925 by the contractor Antonio Iaccarino on behalf of the sorrentine poet Silvio Salvatore Gargiulo - known as Salto Var. He elected the Artis Domus as his town abode, and he set up its rich private museum in. The villa became the foothold of all the artists and illustrious visitors passing in Sorrento.
